Migraine attack!
At work right now, trying to get some stuff done. Came in earlier to start and then went out to Mosman for a facial before returning.
It just occurred to me that I may miss Dr Who tomorrow... as I am coming to work too! Or I could just come in later and catch it!!!
Just as a heads up to those of you not from Melbourne going to Armageddon, it's the weekend of the Spring Carnival ie book now for accommodation as they're pretty scarce!
derry667,
yokiem,
starrlizard and I just found something but we're still looking for alternatives! I think that the only time I could ever afford an executive suite in a hotel is when I'm sharing with someone else! If anyone knows of any hotels in the Melbourne CBD with empty rooms (twin share), let me know!
I saw the line up for Gen Con and I think that that's this weekend... oh my David Nykl, Alan Tudyk and Paul McGillion! Looks like fun! :D
Oh and HAPPY 4TH OF JULY to those who celebrate.
I forgot to mention HAPPY BELATED Canada for 1st July. My trainer took the day off to go drinking and I teased him about curling :)

Characters: OCs mostly - there *is* a canon character in there, but revealing their identity would be a spoiler
Summary: Imagine Médecins Sans Frontières. . . the Pegasus version.
Why rec'd? Told in the form of culling reports, letters and other documentation, this is a lovely glimpse of Pegasus Galaxy society and international relations -- brief glimpses of the aftermath of a culling as revealed by the paperwork it generates. This is a brilliant, between-the-lines peek at Pegasus Galaxy life, and there *is* a canon character involved in the mess, but that's revealed subtly and carefully.

I just reread last year's 4th of July entry. hee. This year reads pretty much the same so far. M is actually away for the weekend (gone to see family) so it was the boys and I. My friend came over to help me out. We did the hike up to town for parade and massive crowds thing.
Man--i think there were even more people there this year than last year. Crazy crowded. We got there a lot earlier this year and had a great spot on the curb picked out--only to have a boat load of people show up 15 minutes before the start to sit in front of us in the road! I managed to get our blankets down in a decent spot for the boys though. We stayed there until D started to lay down and cover his face with his hat. I figured that was a sign he was done baking.
Wandered the 'square' bought expensive food and visited our favorite bookstore (it is air conditioned!). Now I'm home (terribly achy) and enjoying the arctic temps I cranked the air conditioning down too. Watching first season NCIS (is there anything more patriotic?) Oh and trying to eat a quart of boiled peanuts. D wanted peanuts from the 'wild west' wagon. They were out of roasted and he INSISTED he wanted some anyway. So...he took one look and won't touch the things. Thus I've got an entire quart of boiled peanuts all to myself. rah.
Just watched a cool SGA- Rodney vid on LJ but it had a massive SPOILER for season 5 in it. Darn it. I'd heard reference to the spoiler but...grrr. Oh well. One more week. I will hold out. I will make it. I will do my best to avoid any more spoilers.
Tonight---friend plans to return and take us to the big fireworks. We've never taken the boys before because D always seemed to sensitive to the sounds and well...M and I sort of hate crowds. K and I are going to try to find a good spot NOT in the main mass of cars and people though. We'll see how it works. It'll be an adventure.
Tomorrow--I plan on doing NOTHING!
NOTHING at all!!
I need a nap.
:)
A happy 4th to all (cause hey--everyone deserves a happy day whether its independence day or not:))

Bored? Okay, then waste a few mintues watching a chipmunk harrass Sheppard and McKay from Stargate Atlantis. Hey, at least these action figures are getting some action! ;)
For the story behind this, check out Jurassic Atlantis.

Seems that July is just too full of waiting...
For the SGA Season 4 DVDs to come out.
For the Season 5 opener.
For "Continuum."
And don't forget the X-Files movie (although the clip I watched last week was pretty lame. Scully: "This is about your sister, isn't it?" Oh, God, can we just move beyond that? BTW, Scully's long hair? Lovely.)
Today I'm frizzing over the Dr. Who finale, which airs tomorrow night in the UK. Am now a total fan of Catherine Tate. Who knew she'd make Donna such an Everywoman, with lumps and bumps just like mine?
All hail Torrent, God of Cyberspace!

I'm sure several of you have heard about
livelongnmarry, the fandom fundraising effort to support marriage equality. After a bit of waffling (with the helpful prodding of
trystings and
friendshipper) I decided to go ahead and sell my ficsoul make an offer to write a custom fanfic. If it sounds like your kind of thing, or something you want to support, or if you really just want to make the Greyias write weird and wonderful things, I wholeheartedly encourage you to go check it and the other offerings out. It all goes to a good cause.
After all, think of Sulu.

All you gotta do is visit the main SciFi.com page and you'll see the banner on top, or just click on http://www.scifi.com/atlantis/sweepstake
Anyway, Skiffy is offering a contest for two people to the set of Stargate Atlantis and, ohmygawd, they're not forcing you to you to sign up on Skiffy (or not, as the problem has been for many years). I just entered, and it worked, so yes, everybody has a chance. It's open to legal US residents only, 18 years or older (sorry, that's how it works).

Characters: Kate Heightmeyer
Rating: PG-13
Summary: There is a reason they call her "Doctor."
Why rec'd?: It is short but very well written and a great look into an often forgotten character. I have to admit, Kate is not one of my favs, but every so often a fic like this comes along and makes me love her just that little bit more. And yes, shock horror, I'm not rec'ing a fic with Rodney in it!!!

I have no pets at the moment, so when this morning around 5 am something relatively big and furry nudged my hand right in my bed I was understandably concerned. Right off the bat I'm going to brag that I did not let out a blood-curling scream, thus waking the whole neighborhood at that ungodly hour, no, I only let out a sort of strangled gasp and started flailing.
Something, on four silent paws, streaked right out of the open window. It's very hot here, and leaving the windows open at night and letting the air circulate is the only way to keep the temperature inside in bearable parameters. As I was getting up to close the damn window I realized that the furry thing had been making a sound when it nudged me, only my brain hadn't registered it immediately.
It purred.
As I was staggering, still half asleep, towards the window, the neighbor's cat jumped back in, still purring. This is a big kitten of about five months called Pelè (even thought it's a girl; the owner is a crazy old lady, and when I say crazy I mean crazy) and she's been peeking in our windows and taking strolls around our garden ever since she got big enough to jump the walls. I nudged her right back out and went for the blinds. The cat attempted another home invasion, clearly not getting the message. Again, I evicted her and lunged for the blinds. The cat peeked back in, only her little head, and I decided that it was smart enough to duck back out on her own if I managed to close the blinds before it could get back in. I was right. About a minute after I heard the unmistakable sound of padded feet jumping down the wall and landing on the shed, her personal way out.
I had a strange morning.

Characters: John, Rodney (plus some Ronon)
Summary: Sheppard, McKay and Ronon are stranded in a cold wilderness without warm clothes or any supplies, and days away from rescue.
Why rec'd? Very enjoyable h/c and character dynamics. I've always loved wilderness survival stories, and this one has some interesting insights into the various relationships of the three guys on the team.

I saw this on pavane's lj and since I can't access you tube, I can't see the comment!
All I know is that apparently Joe Flanigan checked out David Hewlett impersonating him in London...!
http://pavaneofstars.livejournal.com/10 8378.html
But I can't see Youtube at work. Can someone pls check this out and let me know???
(curious and supposed to be working!)
EDIT: I got the story; apparently Joe Flanigan found a clip of David Hewlett on youtube doing an imitation of him at cons! Hahahah, too cute! As mamoru said, he's either googling himself (cute!!!) or googling David (even cuter!).

Author:
hazelthewitch
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Words: 6,178
Summary: They're trapped on a volcano planet. Things get worse from there.
Notes: My first SGA fanfic. Takes place mid-season 2, vaguely post-Hive. I suppose I should also put a warning here, as cliches abound.

Rating: PG-13
Characters: gen-ish with implied Sheppard/Lorne, Lorne/McKay

Summary: Five times Evan Lorne gave (something almost, but not entirely unlike) first aid.
Notes: Very tiny spoilers for 4x20, so small they're barely noticeable.
